Samarkand International Airport exceeded the historical maximum of monthly passenger traffic in September 2023

In September 2023, Air Marakanda, which operates Samarkand International Airport, covered more than 100,000 passengers in a month for the first time in the history of Samarkand Airport, reaching 101,357 passengers per month.

Mainly the growth of the passenger traffic in the record month was observed for international destinations. Flights from Samarkand to Moscow, Istanbul, St. Petersburg, Abu Dhabi and Dubai were the most popular. The total number of passengers on these flights is 92,184 passengers (+172.7% compared to September 2022).

On domestic air routes, traffic for September totaled 9,173 passengers (+125.6% compared to September 2022). Tashkent was the most popular domestic destination.

It is worth noting that Samarkand International Airport covered 715,132 passengers in the first three quarters of 2023, which is 123.3 per cent or 394,818 passengers more than in the same period last year. Such indicators have not been previously recorded throughout the airport history. The positive dynamics is due to the increase in the number of flights of existing carriers and the attraction of new partners.

Since the beginning of 2023, Samarkand International Airport has expanded its destination network. Totally, there were 7 flights from Samarkand on domestic routes and 19 international routes for 9 months. Of these, Tel Aviv, Jeddah, Kuwait, Mineralnye Vody, Ufa and Samara, Medina were opened for the first time.

It bears emphasis that Air Marakanda pays special attention to the main strategic directions, namely: compliance with international aviation safety requirements, implementation of environmental protection measures, modernization of airport infrastructure, improvement of passenger service level, etc.
